Overview

This 12 nights/13-day tour has been designed to reveal the cultural & heritage insights of Sri Lanka in a brief. It begins with a relaxing night to recover from the flight at a hotel within a short drive of the International Airport in the seaside resort town of Negombo. The town has plenty of restaurants and bars and is a relaxed introduction to a tourist part of Sri Lanka.

Itinerary

DAY 1

ARRIVAL

Upon arriving in Sri Lanka, transfer to a hotel close to the international airport. Relax and unwind after your flight, preparing yourself for the adventure ahead.

DAY 2-3

HIKKADUWA | GALLE - Beach

Hikkaduwa is popular among travelers for its natural magnetism: sea with crystal clear beaches, coral garden, and hot sun are few to give some examples. Joined with a vibrant nightlife, numerous voyagers also come to Hikkaduwa for water activities, like boogie- boarding, surfing, snorkeling, etc. Galle Fort, in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards.

DAY 4-5

UDAWALAWA - Wild Life

Udawalawe National Park which is a major National Park in Sri Lanka which is renowned for its high population of wild Asian elephants. Udawalawe is also notable, because of the Udawalawe Reservoir, which was created in 1969, following the construction of a 3.9 km (2.4 mi) dam and a 6 MW (8,000 hp) hydro-electric plant on the Walawe river. The reservoir is the third largest reservoir in Sri Lanka.

DAY 6-7

ELLA - Mountains & Tea

Ella has all the best parts of Sri Lanka rolled into one: beautiful jungle mountains, rolling tea plantations, and epic waterfalls. As one of the biggest tea producers, travelers can look forward to spending their days among the greenest surroundings, enjoying the views from hilltop houses and adventurous hiking trails. Even the train ride to Ella is one of life’s most remarkable experiences, as you travel by iconic blue train through bamboo forests and tropical mist. DAY 8-9

KANDY - Culture

This sacred Buddhist site, popularly known as the city of Senkadagalapura, was the last capital of the Sinhala kings whose patronage enabled the Dinahala culture to flourish for more than 2,500 years until the occupation of Sri Lanka by the British in 1815. It is also the site of the Temple of the Tooth Relic (the sacred tooth of the Buddha), which is a famous pilgrimage site.

DAY 10-11

SIGIRIYA & DAMBULLA - Heritage

Unbelievable technical, stone methods, wall Arts with beautiful environment shows you the unlimited talent of the Sri Lankan aborigines. This world historical monument located at Mathale District of Sri Lanka. According to the Sri Lankan history, the king Kashyapa created this Lion’s rock for hide from his brother’s attacks. After the king’s death the Sigiriya named as a Buddhist monastery until 14th century.

DAY 12

COLOMBO - Shopping

On the final day of your tour, transfer to a City Hotel in Colombo. You can experience a city tour and shopping in Sri Lanka.

Cancellation

The cancelation policy would be applicable 25 days prior to the booking date, whereby the client will be charged 50% of the tour cost or the property applicable rate. 14 days prior to arrival would incur a 100% cancelation charge upon the booking or property applicable rate - including ‘no show’.

"We spent 13 days on a tour of Sri Lanka with our guide Anton Almeida. The trip was incredible and made even better by Anton's knowledge of the history of Sri Lanka, deep understanding of wildlife and willingness to join with some of the tough hikes we did (e.g. Overnight Adam's Peak, Horton's Plains and Ella Gap). Travelling to a foreign country can have some challenges but Anton was always on time, gave great tips of stops while driving and the best places for food, massages and many other local experiences. Overall it was great and ask for Anton for any future trip you'll be sure to have a fun time!"

"This was our first visit to Sri Lanka, but we had such a great time I’m sure we will be back. This was in no small part due to the excellent arrangements made by Walkers, and our wonderful and attentive guide Janaka. I guess you never know what it’s going to be like to be ferried around for eight days by a total stranger, but Janaka wasn’t a stranger for long. By the end of day two it felt like we were being shown Sri Lanka by a mate – albeit one that happened to be particularly knowledgeable about the country, its history, culture, and wildlife! We had some great experiences in and around Habarana and Kandy, learned a lot of fascinating stuff, and had a load of fun in the process. Even Janaka learned something new – he certainly won’t be parking under a mango tree full of fruit bats again! How he got the car clean before morning we’ll never know… Our week or so’s site seeing flew by, but it teed us up nicely for Christmas and New Year relaxing at the beach in Weligama. So, thanks again to everyone at Walkers, but most especially to Janaka – in a place famous for its jewels, Janaka stands out as a little gem."

"We had a great 11 night Leopard Safari tour anound Sri Lanka. The driver/guide Hirantha was very polite couteous knowledgable and helpful at all times. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The car was always spotlessly clean and tidy inside and out. The hotels were good and the food was excellent. "
